No, not at all. Including the cat is entirely optional. This is your time to be used how you choose. Kerry will incorporate a range of techniques including traditional talk therapy, mind body connection, mindfulness, art, nature and play therapy. Each session is tailored to meet your unique needs to create a comprehensive and personalised experience.

Feline-assisted therapy goes beyond just patting, by integrating the soothing presence of cats into the therapy session. Informed by research on human-animal interactions, cats contribute to a sense of calm, comfort, and security, aiding in stress reduction while enhancing communication, self-regulation, and social skills.

While there is no specific training, our cats are selected for temperaments that provide comfort and support. They've undergone extensive behavioural and health screenings to ensure they're well-suited for therapy work.

The number of sessions you'll need will vary based on your individual goals and needs. Some individuals may see benefits from just a few sessions, while others may need more support over a longer period of time. Kerry will work with you to determine the best approach for your individual situation, and provide guidance and support throughout the process.

We recommend wearing comfortable clothing that allows you to move freely and feel relaxed.

The cost of therapy is $150 per 50 minute session. Depending on your situation you may be able to claim through some government programs. Kerry can provide services to NDIS clients who are self and plan managed. Kerry is also registered to provide services including adjustment to injury counselling under WorkCover Qld.
